NURSING THE SYSTEM
I believe nurses are the key to driving healthcare
change.
When nurses speak, people listen.
I'm an Emergency Department nurse with a love for system analysis. I'm also a Doctor of Nursing Practice candidate, completing a degree in Health Innovation & Leadership.
I founded Nursing the System to fill a gap I've identified in the social media space. More and more healthcare bloggers are popping up, but I can't find the content I'm interested in: Nurses leading healthcare change.
THE MISSION
As healthcare professionals, we've all seen the system fail our patients. Whether it’s the exorbitant costs of services, a pharmaceutical industry committed to profits over patients, or the countless racial and socioeconomic disparities in access to care, we can - and must - do better.
I believe nurses are in a unique position to assess our current healthcare system, drive innovation, and strategize sweeping, system-wide change.
I'M PASSIONATE ABOUT CONNECTING NURSES TO THE INFORMATION THEY NEED TO NAVIGATE THE CHAOS OF OUR HEALTHCARE SYSTEM - AND BE POWERFUL FORCES FOR CHANGE.
I feel an urgency to inspire current and future nurses to realize their full potential as system analysts, with more on-the-ground knowledge of healthcare delivery and patient experience than any other health profession.
Nurses shouldn’t have to enroll in a doctoral program or be a sociology major to learn systems-thinking. Every nurse deserves access to this knowledge, this way of being in the world. We deserve it; our patients deserve it.
