Nursing the System
Turning Nurses into Change Makers
Nurses…
Can you relate?
You're tired of working in a dysfunctional healthcare system.
You want to make things better for your patients and team.
But the problems feel so daunting you’re unsure where to start.
If you answered yes to any of these, you’re on the right website!
Hey, I’m Claire 👋🏼
I’m Dr. Claire Phillips, an ER nurse turned Healthcare Change Specialist.
I’ve been a frontline nurse and a nurse leader. Now, I help nurses change our healthcare systems - and the world.
I founded Nursing the System for nurses just like YOU, as a project to help you heal the system -- and design a career you love while doing it!
You have a critical role to play in making the change you want to see. And I want you to have the tools you need to do it.
I support nurses via coaching, workshops, and courses. I also work with organizations who want to train their teams at scale.
I’m so glad you’re here!
Here’s how we’re going to
change the world 🌍 :
Ever noticed how the major problems we face seem interconnected (climate change, structural racism, healthcare inequality, wealth disparity, etc.)?
That’s because they ARE.
These big, messy problems are systems challenges -- aka super complex problems without a simple solution.
To change the world, we must change the world's systems…
Enter: Systems Thinking 💭
Systems thinking is a cognitive framework, a language, and a set of tools you can use to make sense of messy problems + design solutions that last.
As a systems thinker, you will
-
See complex problems clearly, so you go beyond the 'bandaid' fixes to address the deeper problem.
-
Emerge as a trusted leader, so when you speak, people listen.
-
Make an impact, so you know your time spent in healthcare was meaningful.
And guess what?
You already use systems thinking when caring for your patients. 👩🏽⚕️
👉🏼 You see your patients as whole people.
👉🏽 You understand that health is complex - and means more than the absence of disease.
👉🏿 You channel the expertise of many professions + specialists into the direct care you provide for patients.
The next step is to take what you’re ALREADY doing at the patient-level — and apply it to your workplace and the world.
